8th NordAN drug network meeting, 17 December 2025
The eighth meeting of the NordAN Network on Narcotic Drugs was held as an internal working session focused on updating NordAN’s drug policy platform.
Participants revisited NordAN’s 2009 drug policy position paper, discussed which parts of the document needed revision, and considered how NordAN’s position on harm reduction should be reflected in an updated platform.
The meeting formed part of the work towards a revised NordAN drug policy platform ahead of the 2026 NordAN General Assembly in the Faroe Islands.

On December 17, 2025, the NordAN Network on Narcotic Drugs held an internal working meeting dedicated to NordAN’s drug policy platform. The starting point for the discussion was NordAN’s drug policy position paper adopted in 2009.
The group discussed how the policy document should be brought up to date in light of developments in drug policy over the intervening years. A particular issue was how NordAN’s position on harm reduction should be defined and incorporated while maintaining a comprehensive approach that also gives appropriate weight to prevention, treatment and recovery.
The meeting was a working session rather than a regular thematic network meeting with external presentations. It contributed to the process of preparing a revised NordAN drug policy platform for consideration ahead of the 2026 NordAN General Assembly in the Faroe Islands.
