A new CAN study shows that almost one in five young men in Sweden who gamble for money either have gambling problems or are at risk of developing them. The survey also points to declining drug use, especially among young adults and women, while alcohol dependence remains most common among young adults.

A new CAN report shows that drug experience among Swedish school students continues to fall, especially among boys. Tobacco, nicotine and early vaping remain widespread, and gambling among boys is still at a high level despite a small drop this year.

Homelessness, substance use, and gambling problems among young Finns are increasing. The Blue Ribbon Association and Foundation appealed to Minister Mika Poutala, stressing that state budget decisions and policies on alcohol, gambling, and housing must better safeguard youth wellbeing. They warn that no welfare state should attempt to balance its finances by worsening young people’s struggles with addiction and homelessness.
